I had the previous generation of the Ryobi Vacuum- it had a slotted nose like a dust buster and was adequate but not great. Killed batteries in no time. This vacuum is very good, approx 1″ round inlet, much better suction and easy disassembly and cleaning. Have done some tough jobs with it- cleaned an old gas grill and had a bunch of chunks of solid carbon and junk. This sucked it right up and wasn’t difficult to clean afterword. Ran the front plastic through the dishwasher and it looks like new. Battery life is still not stunning but more than workable- maybe a 1/2 hr or so on standard battery. Very good.

I was looking at the listings for vacuum insect catchers, and looking at the reviews. Those seemed to be toys, and failed a lot. Then I started looking at refurbished battery powered handheld vacuum cleaners. They fail a lot less. They were the same price as the toys, and since we had already bought into this 18v battery system, it was a no brainer.
